This elective course in the humanities will examine the intercession of these three powerful themes that direct human action and influence human expression. Literature through the ages will be our guide as we track the changes in human attitude towards, Sex, Death and Salvation. Initially we will explore the role of poet as prophet and catalyst for social change. Further study will reveal how each theme is woven inextricably into the other two and into the necessary fabric of human existence. Along the way we will explore some of the greatest literary works in the English language from the middle ages through contemporary poetry and music. Film will also be an important part of the course
